IntraFIX: Instructions for Use (IFU)
Design: IntraFix
The IntraMED IntraFIX is an intramedullary fixation splint used for simple rib fracture reduction. The entirely titanium device consists of a splint with barbed teeth on the distal end and a wedge threaded through a wire that is rotated around the titanium spool on the proximal end of the device, causing the wedge to move up the shaft and the teeth to separate, fixating the device inside the bone. In addition to this, a housing plate is attached to the proximal end to keep the spool in place. The device is also packaged with a bicortical bone screw that secures the device to the bone through the hole in the housing.
