Design: VolCon
The VolCon is an in-socket fabric storage system for transtibial amputees that allows the user to quickly add or remove sock fabric within their socket without the need to remove their prosthesis. It consists of retractable 1-ply, 3-ply, and 5-ply sock fabric stored in rolls within the housing providing the user with multiple combinations of ply to accommodate for limb volume changes and improve socket fit. The VolCon uses a novel spring roller mechanism that quickly allows the fabric strips to be pulled out for use and then easily retracted back into the housing when no longer needed.
